FA centre selects SISIS for maintenance after FIFA trials

St George’s Park head groundsman Alan Ferguson says the Osca tractor mounted oscillating brush has made a difference to the maintenance programme
The FA’s National Football Centre has chosen SISIS machinery for use on its indoor and outdoor synthetic pitches.

St George’s Park will use the company’s ‘Osca’ tractor mounted oscillating brush following trials held by FIFA on synthetic surface maintenance equipment.

Alan Ferguson, head of grounds and estate at St George’s Park, previously used the equipment during his time as head groundsman at Ipswich Football Club. “Ball roll is a difficult parameter to keep in check and the Osca’s oscillating brushing action brings something different to our maintenance programme and it’s something that actually makes a real difference,” he said.

The Osca has a 1.8 metre working width and when in operation, two oscillating brushes stand the carpet fibres up and the infill is evenly redistributed, minimising compaction on the surface and improving its performance. This results in consistent playing characteristics and prevents pile damage being caused by reduced infill levels. An additional brush can be fitted to the rear of the unit.

SISIS says that when used regularly Osca will keep the infill mobile, preventing surface compaction and loss of porosity.
