Vitax launches GPS-based linemarking machine for ‘pinpoint accuracy’

Supplier: Vitax Ltd

More Vitax Ltd details
Vitax is launching a linemarking machine which uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) to give ‘pinpoint accuracy’ to the job of laying out a pitch.

The Supaturf Swozi system works with a GPS receptor positioned on the pitch, which ‘talks’ to the onboard computer via Bluetooth. This triangulates Swozi's position with help from its own GPS unit, directing the linemarking machine to the appropriate line selected.

The machine carries an onboard computer that can be uploaded with software for marking out whichever sports are required.

Deviation from the marking map by even a few millimetres triggers the head to adjust to maintain an accurate line. If the machine moves too far out of correct alignment, the computer tells the linemarker to stop spraying until the operator positions the machine to the correct marking pattern.

According to Vitax, the Swozi system provides pinpoint accuracy, shown in UK field trials where existing alignment inaccuracies in marked-out pitches have been corrected.

The company says that the Swozi system marks out a pitch much faster than traditional methods, freeing up the groundskeeper’s time for other tasks.
